When do Energy Rates Change?

Typically, we review our rates every year:

  • in Victoria rate changes usually occur in July and the Essential Services Commission (ESC) reviews the Victorian Default Offer price every year on 1 July.
  • in Queensland, New South Wales, Australian Capital Territory and South Australia they tend to happen in July and the Australian Energy Regulator (AER) reviews the Default Market Offer price every year on 1 July.

If you live in Victoria, you will often receive a notice of rate change in mid-June for the change on July 1st. For interstate customers and Hot Water customers, you will receive the notice of rate change mid-July for the change on August 1st.

These times are when we usually change the rates, but there may be occasions where a rate change needs to happen at another time. Anytime a rate change occurs, you will receive an email or letter informing you of the change and its commencement.
