The Gas Cooktop charge is a daily supply charge for the gas used to operate your cooktop or other gas connected appliances.
Unlike metered gas services, your gas usage is not recorded. Instead, you will be charged a fixed daily rate regardless of how often you use your appliance(s). The charge is based on the number of days in the billing period, rather than the amount of gas used.
This charge is typically included on your circulating hot water invoice. It will appear as a separate line item on your invoice.
Why is my gas usage not recorded?
The gas supplied to your tenancy is not individually metered, which means the amount of gas used by each tenancy in your building cannot be separately recorded. As usage data is not available, a fixed daily rate is charged instead of billing based on your actual gas consumption.
What if I don't have any gas appliances?
If you don't have a gas cooktop or any other gas appliances, but you're being charged a Gas Cooktop charge, please contact us so we can investigate. We may need to confirm this with your Owners Corporation.
Can the daily rate change?
The Gas Cooktop charge may be reviewed and adjusted from time to time. This will be around the same time your hot water charges are reviewed and adjusted. You will be notified of any changes to the charge.
