Life Support Policy

If you, or someone in your household, relies on Life Support Equipment, it is very important that you notify Energy On as soon as possible. This helps us make sure your electricity supply is protected and that we meet our obligations to you. What is Life Support Equipment?

Life Support Equipment includes (but is not limited to):

  • Oxygen concentrators
  • Intermittent peritoneal dialysis machines
  • Kidney dialysis machines
  • Chronic positive airways pressure respirators (CPAP)
  • Crigler-Najjar syndrome phototherapy equipment
  • Ventilators for life support
  • Any other equipment that a registered medical practitioner certifies is required by someone residing at your premises for life support.

Other examples of Life Support Equipment

Some other types of equipment that may qualify as life support include:

  • External heart pumps
  • Respirators (iron lung)
  • Suction pumps (respiratory or gastric)
  • Feeding pumps (e.g. kangaroo pump, or total parenteral nutrition)
  • Insulin pumps
  • Airbed vibrators
  • Nebulisers, humidifiers, or vaporizers
  • Apnoea monitors
  • Medically required heating or air conditioning
  • Medically required refrigeration
  • Powered wheelchairs
